Elements not listed in this table should not be intentionally added to steel without the consent of the buyer, except after the completion of melting, and all appropriate measures should be taken during the steelmaking process to prevent the addition of these elements from scrap and other materials that can adversely affect the mechanical properties and performance of the steel. Among them, Cr+Cu+Mo≤0.5

Ni is a pure solution element in steel, which has the effect of significantly reducing the cold-brittle transition temperature. Ni and iron exist in the a- and 7-iron phases in a miscible form, and the ferrite grains are refined through their adsorption in the grains, and the impact toughness of 09MnNiDR steel is improved. However, at the same time, Ni expands the austenite elements and reduces the transition temperature of the austenite, thereby affecting the diffusion rate of carbon and alloying elements, preventing the transformation of austenite to pearlite, reducing the critical cooling rate of steel, improving the hardenability of steel, and making bainite and martensite appear in 09MnNiDR. Therefore, controlling the appropriate Ni content to maintain a single ferrite plus pearlite is the key to improving toughness.
